The current version of the ATLSS Vegetation Succession Model (VSMod) is 1.0beta (2003072401). This version of VSMod provides estimates of the changes in the spatial distribution of vegetation resulting from hydrologic changes and patterns of fire disturbance, as well as their interactions. Future versions will incorporate the effects of nutrients and the interactions between nutrients and hydrology and fire.

VSMod is based on the two reports created by Paul Wetzel: 1) Plant Community Parameter Estimates and Documentation for the Across Trophic Level System Simulation (ATLSS) (HTML Format, MS Word ) 2) Nutrient and Fire Disturbance and Model Evaluation Documentation for the Across Trophic Level System Simulation (ATLSS) ( HTML Format, MS Word )

Documentation describing how the model works and how it is parameterized is forthcoming. This will include information about the fire sub-model.
